Living in Latin America Has Changed My Life

My first taste of living in Latin America started way back in 1994 in Recife, Brazil. I lived with a family for 3 months and studied Portuguese at the University of Pernambuco. It opened my eyes to a whole new world. It was undoubtedly the most memorable experience of my life. I craved more of it.

My Move to Ecuador

The next year, in 1995 I got married to an Ecuadorian I met at the University of South Carolina and moved from the US to Guayaquil, Ecuador. The following year my daughter was born. For sure, living in Latin America isn’t for everyone, but for many, including myself, it’s an area of the world filled with adventure and intrigue. Additionally, living in Latin America typically has a lower cost of living than the United States, Canada and western Europe.

My Current Life

I split time between the United States and Mexico. I created Latam Living because I feel a connection to Latin America, despite being American. I honestly don’t have a preference. Like most things in life, each has its pros and cons. My work helping people sell structured settlements at Factor Financial supports my travels. Technology lets me run my business from anywhere with an internet connection, giving me the freedom to explore new places while staying hands-on.
